Our friends at VACO love coming up with creative ways to give back! In light of the Thanksgiving holiday, VACO employees hosted a Thanksgiving-themed cook-off. Three teams competed to see who could prepare the best Thanksgiving meal – one team gave their meal a Hawaiian flare, one team chose to “bootleg” their meal, and one team kept it traditional. Party-goers voted for the best dishes by donating funds or canned goods, benefiting Feeding Tampa Bay. VACO raised $345 and 174 pounds of food, resulting in 3,595 meals for our hungry neighbors. We’re thankFULL for partners like VACO that continuously create ways to fill the tables of those in need!
The days following Hurricane Irma were tough for everyone in its path. As Feeding Tampa Bay enacted its disaster plan and increased its number of food distributions, it was in need of assistance from the local community. One of the organizations that came to the rescue was the St. Pete Police Department. Each time a food distribution was scheduled for the St. Pete area, the St. Pete Police Department was there to help distribute food to the community and assist patrons in any manner needed. Feeding Tampa Bay is grateful for the support of the police department in the weeks following Irma, as well as for their recognition of the work Feeding Tampa Bay does in the community. The St. Pete Police Department awarded Feeding Tampa Bay with a Certificate of Appreciation for outstanding contributions to the citizens of the City of St. Petersburg in the aftermath of the storm. Feeding Tampa Bay is lucky to have partners like the St. Pete Police Department.
