In Case You Missed It – Feeding Tampa Bay Turned 35 Last Month!

We kicked off the celebration at the beginning of November with Mayor Bob Buckhorn. Mayor Buckhorn awarded Feeding Tampa Bay with a Proclamation recognizing the organization’s 35 years of service.

The celebration continued with our 35th Anniversary party in our warehouse on November 9th. Party-goers walked up the orange carpet to the Feeding Tampa Bay warehouse and the party entrance. Various stations were housed around the warehouse exhibiting the many ways we serve our neighbors, explaining our mission and the reasons that motivate us as an organization, introducing our neighbors in need to our community, and recreating our daily operations.

Accompanying the informative piece of the party was beverages provided by Jackson Family Wines, as well as a photo booth and an interactive “why” wall allowing participants to explain what motivates them to fight hunger. In between all of the activity, we showed a video timeline of the history of Feeding Tampa Bay. View below.

Our special guest speaker, Michael Solomon, capped off the video and walked us through what it was like to be one of the founders of Feeding Tampa Bay and described how the food bank has grown since its inception. At the end of the ceremony, we announced the total number of meals Feeding Tampa Bay has distributed to the community since 1982: 397,522,938 meals! We’re proud to place meals on the empty tables of all who need food and thankful for our partners who make this possible each and every day.
