Junior League brings farm fresh food to the community

Who doesn’t love sampling fresh foods at the local farmer’s market? With the help of Junior League of Tampa, Feeding Tampa Bay was able to host a farmer’s market at St. Peter Claver Catholic School last week. The ‘Done in a Day’ grant from the Junior League allowed us to set up produce at the school and let the participants shop for their food. The fresh options included cabbage, multi-colored peppers, various kinds of tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, and strawberries. Together, the Junior League and Feeding Tampa Bay served 177 participants, including children from the school, as well as those from neighboring households. Not only did the farmer’s market bring fresh produce to our families in need, but it also brought the community together for a unique event.
