This month, ABC Action News and Seacoast Bank hosted the Food for Families food drive hoping to alleviate some of the budget strains families in need will face this summer. As we enter the summer months, family budgets that are already stretched thin are stressed even further while school is out. When school closes for the summer season, child care expenses increase and food budgets are divided more than usual since children no longer receive free meals on campus.
Throughout the food drive, ABC and Seacoast have made pushes to the community to bring in nonperishable goods to local Seacoast Bank locations. While these donation sites have been open all month long, the food drive team also hosted two community collection days at the Seacoast Bank on MacDill Ave. During these days, donors could drop-off canned goods and personal items, make a cash donation to the campaign, and collect a branded reusable bag for their contribution. During those two days alone, Food for Families brought in 35,181 meals for Tampa Bay!
