Because no one
should go hungry.

In order to meet the changing needs of food insecure individuals and families in our community, Feeding Tampa Bay and Trinity Cafe are merging, effective January 1. Combining our capabilities will strengthen food relief services across West Central Florida, creating full-service solutions that begin around the table with a healthy chef prepared meal.

Innovative solutions. Feeding Tampa Bay and Trinity Cafe have seen an evolution in the needs of families and individuals that have left them more strained than ever before. Understanding the constraints of time, money and health our hungry neighbors experience, Feeding Tampa Bay and Trinity Cafe’s merger will expand the scope of service and options people have in accessing healthy meals.

Healthy outcomes. We believe that food fuels human potential. The Feeding Tampa Bay and Trinity Cafe merger will provide our hungry neighbors with a greater ability to focus on their long-term well-being, by alleviating the constraints of finding healthy food. This will allow our neighbors to focus on their health, education or productivity at work.

How did the decision to merge come about?
The changing needs of the Tampa Bay area are calling on new and innovative strategies for hunger relief efforts. The boards of both Feeding Tampa Bay and Trinity Cafe found critical alignment and positions of strength – mirroring a ‘better together’ mindset – while considering the merger. Not to mention, a culture of dignity, respect and empathy for the neighbors, guests and community served is prevalent in both organizations. The decision was made and the teams ceremoniously signed the agreement during October, the 17th anniversary of the opening of Trinity Cafe.

When is the merger effective?
The merger is effective January 1, 2019.

Will there be any changes in the Feeding Tampa Bay or Trinity Cafe models?
No. As the backbone of hunger relief in Tampa Bay, Feeding Tampa Bay can leverage its food distribution network alongside the Trinity Cafe model to deliver current services and provide a broader response to hunger relief.

What will be the impact of the merger?
The merger will help advance the causes of both organizations as it lifts their combined capabilities. As a result, the two organizations will benefit the community at large and the people that both organizations serve by leading them to the path of self-sufficiency.

What’s the vision for the future?
Trinity Cafe’s model and kitchen will be the centerpiece of expansion across Feeding Tampa Bay’s 10-county area of service. A vision for community empowerment centers that will include short-term meal and long-term solutions, such as take-home meals, children’s meals, and in the future, a culinary training program, is at the heart of this expansion.

The extended vision is to provide access to benefits, healthy meal options and independence, empowering those initially in need to address common barriers such as health care, housing and unemployment.
