In partnership with Meals on Wheels of Tampa, the Produce on Wheels (POW) Program kicked off last Saturday, October 17th with a produce packing event at the Feeding Tampa Bay warehouse. Volunteers packed over 700 bags of produce that were then delivered directly to homebound seniors and individuals. The POW partnership with Meals on Wheels falls under Feeding Tampa Bay’s new DISH Program (Directly Impacting Senior Health).
Bank of America went on a tour of impact on October 13th, delivering 11 checks in one day to all of their Basic Human Services Grant RFP recipients. Feeding Tampa Bay was stop 5 of 11 and received $30,000 to use towards its Agency Empowered Retail Program (AERP). The funds will help Feeding Tampa Bay empower its agency partners to pick up more food directly from retail stores by providing these agencies with equipment needed for larger and perishable pick-ups. The $30,000 will allow Feeding Tampa Bay to source and direct an additional 1 million meals to help feed the hungry in our area.
