Edwin is 58-years-old and needs a new heart.

He’s been on the list for a transplant for three years and is hoping he’s matched to a donor soon. While he waits, he needs to eat as healthy as possible. Neither Edwin or his wife can work, so the couple can’t really afford the fresh fruit and vegetables Edwin needs to keep his heart in good shape.

In the meantime, Edwin has access to the nutritious food he needs at a local food pantry near his home. “I wouldn’t be able to afford this food otherwise,” he said. “This is saving us money and it’s also keeping me healthy.”

While Edwin waits for a new heart, it’s thanks to the commitment from community partners like Wawa and the Wawa Foundation that help neighbors like Edwin remain hopeful and healthy.
