At Feeding Tampa Bay, we know hunger doesn’t discriminate. It can affect our neighbors, friends, coworkers, even strangers that pass us by on the street.

We know that hunger is a complex, often misunderstood issue.

And we know that people shouldn’t have to make the impossible choice between food and other necessities.

That’s why we strive to continually raise awareness about food insecurity and provide our community with nourishing, accessible food. This goal is especially important to us during September, known nationwide as Hunger Action Month.

But our work wouldn’t be possible without your support.

Every action you take, no matter how big or small, plays a crucial role in our fight against hunger. So, here are a few ways that you can help us out this month:

Volunteer

Whether you want to help sort goods at our warehouse, distribute groceries at one of our mobile pantry sites, or serve hot meals to guests at Trinity Cafe, there’s always a place for you in our Feeding Tampa Bay family.

Check out our volunteering calendar for more information!

Give

Donate non-perishables or host a food drive to gather and deliver essential items to our warehouse. Our Food Drive Toolkit will provide you with tips on how to get started!

If you want to host a food drive but lack storage, transportation or manpower, that’s okay! You can also make a difference from your computer or phone screen by starting a virtual food drive. These sorts of campaigns allow Feeding Tampa Bay to give people more food more quickly. Every $1 you raise equals an exponential amount of meals donated to folks in our coverage area. Just take these steps to set up your virtual drive and share the link online with friends to start raising money!

Learn

At Feeding Tampa Bay, we aim to provide resources that will help you better understand the hunger situation in your community. Knowledge is power, and it’s the best way to take meaningful action.

Check out our blog for guidance on things like SNAP eligibility or info about how federal legislation is affecting hunger at the local level. Listen to our podcast to hear stories from different community leaders and members. Or see how your county’s food security stats stack up to the rest of the state’s with Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap study.
