take action for the affordable care act

Take Action Now! Ask Congress to Extend the Enhanced Advanced Premium Tax Credits

The reconciliation bill passed this summer made significant changes to the healthcare system, including failing to extend the enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits. This is especially concerning for Florida, which has the highest ACA enrollment in the nation with 4.7 million residents enrolled.

These enhanced tax credits made health coverage more affordable for many of Florida’s working families. Now, with the loss of these credits and health insurance premiums for 2026 expected to increase by an average of over 25%, the Kaiser Family Foundation estimates that 2.2 million Floridians will lose health care coverage. This would double Florida’s uninsured rate.

  • When parents are uninsured, their children are less likely to receive regular check-ups and crucial medical care, setting the stage for long-term health issues and hindering their ability to thrive.
  • When millions lose coverage, preventable illnesses and chronic conditions go untreated, leading to more emergency room visits and higher costs for everyone.

At Feeding Tampa Bay, we are deeply concerned about the impact this will have on families that are already facing economic hardships. Congress still has the opportunity to reauthorize the enhanced tax credits before the end of the year. Your signature on this letter of support is a crucial step in letting Congress know that access to affordable healthcare is not a partisan issue— it's about protecting the health and financial stability of our neighbors and our community.
