What is the AmeriCorps VISTA Program?

Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) is an anti-poverty program designed to provide needed resources to nonprofit organizations and public agencies to increase their capacity to uplift communities. The AmeriCorps VISTAs serve alongside the Feeding Tampa Bay team in our fight to end hunger in the Tampa Bay area by increasing our ability to serve our neighbors.

AmeriCorps VISTA provides opportunities for Americans 18 years or older from a diverse range of backgrounds to dedicate a year of full-time service with an organization to create or expand programs designed to empower the communities we serve.

Benefits of Becoming a Feeding Tampa Bay AmeriCorps VISTA

Student Loan Forbearance +
Approved VISTAs are eligible for forbearance for most federally-guaranteed student loans and interest repayment by AmeriCorps.
Education Award or Stipend +
VISTA alumni qualify for an Education Award for educational expenses like student loans or future tuition or a stipend.
Living Stipend +
AmeriCorps pays VISTAs a bi-weekly stipend throughout service to cover basic expenses like food and gas.
Benefits +
Receive healthcare benefits, a free gym membership, personal and sick leave, and grocery assistance throughout your term of service.
Professional Development +
Spearhead a project and gain strategic thinking, project management, leadership skills, and interpersonal team building experience.
