Meet Dana

Dana, author and mother, is photographed at her Equestrian Rescue Farm in Tarpon Springs, Florida. She has suffered a long history of back injuries due to competitive horse racing which have left her disabled and unable to work a traditional job. Today, she keeps busy as the owner and operator of Mare's Legacy Equine Rescue, a non-profit organization working to save horses from the slaughter pipeline and educate the public about the atrocities these noble creatures endure. On the days where funds are tight, she depends on the help given by her local food pantry. There she receives nutritious foods that feed her family for up to a week.
