After the financial crisis of 2008, Grace's income was cut in half. In 2018, she lost her only son. A few months later she decided to retire from being a medical bill collector, a career she held for 37 years. Today, like for so many others, retirement isn't panning out how she had imagined it. “Asking for help was very hard for me. I was strongly encouraged to visit food pantries to find help and I just kept saying, no, I rather leave it for those who need it more."  Grace has been visiting the Florida Blue Produce Mobile Pantry for 6 months now and absolutely loves it, she never skips a week. "I went from eating someone else’s leftovers to eating my own.” This pantry has even helped her discover new fruits and vegetables she's never tried before, like dragon fruit, her new found favorite.
