“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
Nearly 40 years after her death, anthropologist Margaret Mead’s words still ring true. They define the spirit of volunteerism that is central to Feeding Tampa Bay’s mission. Our goal of creating a hunger-free community wouldn’t be possible without the support of those who dedicate their time to powering our warehouse, our programs, and our pantries. This week, we honor them.
Our thousands-strong volunteer force is a testament to our community’s resilience. Whether they’re sorting through stock, serving folks at Trinity Cafe, or handing out boxes at mobile pantries, our volunteers are the heart that keeps FTB thrumming with life. With open minds and outstretched hands, they continue to uplift and empower our neighbors.
Last year, over 50,000 people dedicated over 150,000 hours of volunteer work to our organization. We’re grateful for the impact those figures have made, and we hope they continue to grow as we expand our reach.
Though we honor all of our volunteers this week, we also want to highlight the groups and individuals who have gone above and beyond to help further our mission. They include:
- DTCC
- Jabil
- Jesuit High School
- Macdonald Training Center
- United Way Suncoast
- David Dembo
- Barbara Smith
- Angie Tam
- Judith Maratea
- Don Clark
If you’re interested in volunteering with us, check out the “volunteer” page on our website! Just one hour of time results in exponential meals for our neighbors. Your help will take us one step closer to creating an empowered and hunger-free Tampa Bay.
